Data Protection Forum & NIIMS – Friday 29th March
Ms. Linda,
Unlikely to make it, however kindly discuss the situation also with cyber
crimes in mind e.g. attempts to hinder in-depth electronic/data analytics
of the Kenyan population to increase national security, penalties for those
who hack into NIIMs, etc.
No system is hack proof (technology changes all the time) so those seeking
to ban NIIMS on technical grounds should beware data protection is both
technical and ethical. Transparency has a way of increasing ethics – good
behavior when people are watching.
You can be sure no senior State officer or Judge wants to be tracked while
engaging in private (unethical) matters. As such, NIIMS likely to be more
defined (restricted but not banned) by law.
Maybe next time have some friendly foreign state officials advise us on how
it works for or against their citizenry?
