TikTok Launches Sub-Saharan Africa Safety Advisory Council to Enhance Platform Safety

TikTok has established a Safety Advisory Council for Sub-Saharan Africa to
promote a safe and positive platform environment on the Platform.

The 8-member council comprises experts in youth safety, free expression,
and hate speech from various fields, including policymakers, academics,
NGOs, and community leaders.

Among them is Lillian Kariuki from Watoto Watch Network who is a Lister
here. Congratulations Lillian!

The council will collaborate with TikTok in shaping policies, product
features, and safety processes to address evolving challenges.

The Council and TikTok’s #SaferTogether campaign were launched yesterday.
The campaign aims to encourage community engagement in understanding and
following platform guidelines and safety features.
